KUALA LUMPUR, June 30 (Bernama) — The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) futures contracts on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives closed lower Monday in line with the cash market’s performance, dealers said.
At the close, spot month June 2008 was unchanged at 1,187, July 2008 declined one point to 1,171, September 2008 fell one point to 1,157 and December 2008 dropped half point to 1,140.5.
Turnover fell to 13,450 lots compared with last Friday’s 17,747 lots while open interests decreased to 48,125 contracts from 52,501 contracts previously.
The underlying KLCI closed 3.97 points lower at 1,186.57. It had opened 3.56 points lower at 1,186.98.

THE KL Composite Index (KLCI) held steady in mild congestion for most of the sessions last week and fell sharply in an abrupt sell-off on Friday motivated by the large losses in the Dow Jones. The benchmark index ended the week with minor losses.
The KLCI fluctuated from an intra-week high of 1,211.94 points to a three-month low of 1,186.71 and ended the week off slightly from its week’s low of 1,190.54, down 16.13 points or 1.34% from a week earlier.

MAIN BOARD
THE Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) concluded the lacklustre directionless trading week with fractional gains.
The KLCI remained locked in a tight 16-point range of 1,276.55 to 1,260.01 points and finished the week after a late rally at 1,276.10 points, up 1.32 points or 0.10% from previously.
The main index-linked stocks ended the week mixed.
IOI Corp, Tenaga Nasional, Genting, Digi.Com, Plus Expressways and PPB Group finished with moderate gains and contributed a combined 8.7 points to the index.
Public Bank, Maybank, Petronas Gas and KL Kepong ended in negative territory and erased a combined 5.32 points from the KLCI.
